Square Any Two Digit Number

Step 1: Square each digit and place the answers side-by-side

4² 3²
16 09

If a squared is a single digit number place a zero in front of it

Step 2: Multiply the digits of the number being squared
4 x 3 = 12

Step 3: Double the answer in Step 2 and add a zero to the end
12 x 2 = 24
240

Step 4: Add the results of step 1 and step 3
1609 + 240 = 1849

Multiply Two Numbers in the 90s

97 x 92 =

Step1: Find the difference between each number and 100

100-97= 3
100-92= 8

Step 2: Add together the numbers from step 1
3 + 8 = 11
Step 3: Subtract the result in Step 2 from 100

Step 4: Multiply together the two numbers from step 1
3 x 8 = 24

Step 5 Put the answer from step 4 behind the answer from step 3
